Hav-A-Sis and Band of Brothers Unite to Elevate Veterans’ Support

Collaborations between nonprofit organizations can significantly impact communities, directly benefiting their members and those they serve.

Two Lake Havasu City nonprofits, Hav-A-Sis and Echo Group Band of Brothers Arizona, recently announced a partnership aimed at enhancing support for community veterans.

Echo Group is well-known for its sports leagues, notably softball, while Hav-A-Sis is recognized for its charitable contributions to youth programs and veterans’ resources. According to Echo Group Chapter President Stacy Lee, Hav-A-Sis President Connie Alexander reached out about organizing a gathering on a recent Friday morning.

During this unannounced meeting, Hav-A-Sis members made a generous donation that Lee accepted with gratitude. Lee noted that the donated funds, amounting to $1,500, would help purchase equipment for players. Echo Group’s programs also include a motorcycle riding club.

The donation was a heartfelt gesture, and several Echo Group members embraced the Hav-A-Sis team in appreciation. Alexander emphasized the importance of community support for veterans, noting, “When we ask someone to sacrifice and fight for our country, it’s our obligation to provide whatever they need when they come home.”

Echo Group has made strides in lowering the suicide rate among veterans, reporting no suicides in its 11 years of operation across various states. The sports programs are crucial for getting veterans out of isolation and fostering camaraderie.

The partnership originated when Alexander mentioned the need for assistance in setting up events. Lee offered Echo Group’s help, leading to a broader collaboration where Hav-A-Sis would also assist with funding for insurance fees and jerseys.

Alexander spoke highly of the collaboration, saying, “It’s an honor and privilege for Hav-A-Sis to support veterans at multiple levels in our community.”

The donated funds from Hav-A-Sis will aid in purchasing mitts, cleats, and covering fees for players and events. Lee believes that this partnership will foster greater community involvement for their members.

Echo Group’s new season kicks off on Friday, Sept. 6, at SARA Park Field 3, with the opening game starting at 6:30 p.m. The event will include a ceremony and the national anthem.

Lee extends an invitation for community members to attend the games, stating, “It really means a lot for the veterans and their families to see community support.”
