WASHINGTON — Kamala Harris, Democratic presidential contender, has chosen Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate after a rigorous selection process.
The Associated Press announced on Tuesday that Walz was selected over Arizona Senator Mark Kelly and Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro. All three had final interviews with Harris on Sunday.
Harris and Walz are set to embark on a nationwide campaign tour starting in Philadelphia on Tuesday, reaching swing states. A rally in Phoenix is scheduled for Friday afternoon.
Harris stated, “I’m proud to announce that I’ve asked Governor Tim Walz to be my running mate. His deep-rooted commitment to middle-class families stands out. As a governor, coach, teacher, and veteran, he has delivered for working families like his. We started as underdogs, but together, we can win this election.”

I’m all in.
Vice President Harris is showing us the politics of what’s possible. It reminds me a bit of the first day of school.
So, let’s get this done, folks! Join us.

Kelly, 60, the son of New Jersey police officers, boasts a stellar resume for national politics.
Vice President @KamalaHarris and Governor @Tim_Walz are going to move us forward. They’re already building a campaign to unite our country — and @GabbyGiffords and I are ready to do everything we can to help them win.

Kelly’s first foray into the national political spotlight came after the assassination attempt on his wife, then-Congresswoman Gabby Giffords of Tucson.
I’ll never forget standing off the House floor as @GabbyGiffords returned 13 years ago today to cast her first vote since she had been shot. I’ve watched Gabby work so hard to tackle every step of her recovery with a determination that still inspires me every day.
