Construction is currently taking place to transform the former 99 Cents Only store on Edison Road at John Wayne Parkway into a Harbor Freight Tools outlet. The project began visibly with the removal of old signage, replaced by hiring announcements for potential employees.

Inside, crews have stripped the space down to prepare for the new selection of power tools, generators, jacks, and more that the retailer offers. Recent documents from the city’s planning department indicate that the exterior work will primarily involve patching, repairs, and repainting, ensuring the store meets Harbor Freight’s branding standards.

Additions to the building will feature Harbor Freight signs in white block lettering, complemented by the company’s signature red paint scheme. The necessary permits for these commercial renovations were secured on September 11, confirming Harbor Freight’s expansion into Maricopa, with improvements valued at $325,000.

The new store aims to hire 25 to 30 employees, with job applications available on the Harbor Freight website. The anticipated opening date for the store is set for December.
