Harbor Freight Finalizes Maricopa Store Opening for Good

An exterior view of Harbor Freight Tools’ corporate office in Calabasas, Calif., illustrates the company’s expansion intentions as it prepares to enter the Maricopa market. Today, the widely-discussed rumor has been confirmed: Harbor Freight will open a new store in the former 99 Cents Only location on Edison Road at John Wayne Parkway.
With a reputation for offering power tools, generators, and various hardware supplies at competitive prices, the Calabasas-based retailer is anticipated to commence operations in December. This marks a significant addition to the local home improvement retail landscape, where established players like ACE Hardware, Home Depot, and Lowe’s currently dominate.
The speculation surrounding the new location began circulating in mid-June. A Facebook user, identified as Armo Lite, shared information about Harbor Freight’s takeover of the former discount store. This post quickly garnered extensive engagement within the community, prompting reactions and comments verifying the news.
Amber Miller, a resident from Santa Rosa Crossing, provided further confirmation, stating in the Maricopa AZ 85138 Facebook group, “True news. My husband will be running the store. It was announced a few weeks ago.” Initial hopes of opening in October were later shifted back to a December timeline, as Harbor Freight spokesperson Donna Walker offered a more cautious perspective on the situation.
Despite early excitement, Walker emphasized at the time that no official details could be confirmed. “I can’t confirm anything right now, but we are looking in the area,” she had said. While the community anticipates the arrival of another major home improvement retailer, Harbor Freight’s commitment to providing budget-friendly options is sure to attract both DIY enthusiasts and professional contractors alike.
Efforts to reach Walker for a follow-up comment today were unsuccessful. As the new store’s opening date approaches, residents will be keenly watching for future developments.
