Republican Congressman-elect Abe Hamadeh announced his appointments to two significant committees—the House Armed Services Committee and the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs—on Monday. With these positions, the retired Army Reserve Captain and Intelligence Officer will have an influential role affecting service members throughout their careers.

In a message posted on X, Hamadeh expressed pride in joining his colleagues on these military-focused committees. He emphasized a commitment to enhancing the power of American forces and ensuring veterans receive the respect they deserve. “Together with President Trump, we will make our warfighters the most powerful force,” he stated.

Connor O’Brien of Politico reported that Hamadeh is among seven new members selected by the House GOP Steering Committee for the Armed Services Committee. The roster also includes Representatives Derrick Van Orden, Mark Messmer, John McGuire, Derek Schmidt, Pat Harrigan, and Jeff Crank.

Arizona Senator Wendy Rogers praised Hamadeh’s new roles, stating, “These are the TWO BEST COMMITTEES for Abe to do Arizona and our country GOOD!” Hamadeh’s committee placements could enable significant collaboration with officials like Richard Allen Grenell, Trump’s newly appointed Presidential Envoy for Special Missions. Two days before his committee announcement, Hamadeh congratulated Grenell on X, highlighting his loyalty and commitment to the America First agenda.

The congressman, whose family immigrated from Syria, has also made statements regarding the shifting political landscape in the Middle East, particularly the situation in Syria. He advised that U.S. alliances should be based on mutual respect, urging Turkey to take a more proactive role against terrorism. “Hosting groups like Hamas…undermines that relationship,” Hamadeh stated.

In a recent interview, he discussed potential normalization between Syria and Israel, calling it a “huge seismic shift.” His observations underscore an evolving geopolitical climate and hint at fruitful discussions ahead in his new committee roles.
