Grand Opening: Center Unveils New Era

On August 23, the Phoenix Indian Center celebrated the grand opening of its new office located at 4041 N. Central Ave., in central Phoenix. This milestone event featured speeches from key individuals, including CEO Jolyana Begay-Kroupa and program managers, highlighting the Center’s contributions to the Native community over its 77-year history.

Diandra Benally, board president of the Phoenix Indian Center and general counsel for the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation, also spoke along with Jason Chavez, director of Tribal Affairs for Governor Katie Hobbs. Their remarks underscored the Center’s significant impact on local Native populations.

The new facility, a spacious two-story building, includes conference rooms, classrooms on the first floor, and staff offices upstairs, along with additional meeting and rental spaces. Its strategic location at the intersection of Indian School Road and Central Avenue remains accessible to Valley Metro rail and bus lines, thereby enhancing service delivery to the community.

Serving over 9,500 customers annually, the Phoenix Indian Center offers extensive workforce development, prevention services, and cultural enrichment, along with programs aimed at both adults and youth. Additionally, its outreach initiatives reach more than 35,000 urban American Indian children and families each year.
