2 arrested in Golden Valley homicide case

Two individuals have been apprehended concerning an August 2 homicide in Golden Valley. The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) had been on the lookout for murder suspect Kenneth Carter, 36, and his father Kenneth Carter Sr., 58. The Carters, both residents of Golden Valley, notified authorities of their presence at a business along Highway 68 and expressed their intention to surrender, nearly 15 hours after the reported killing.

“Deputies and Detectives responded to the location and transported the men for interviews,” said MCSO spokeswoman Anita Mortensen. “Both men were arrested and transported to the Mohave County Adult Detention Facility without incident.”

The younger Carter faces charges of first-degree murder, while his father is charged with hindering prosecution.

According to Mortensen, deputies arrived at 12:43 a.m. to a shooting report and discovered the victim, David Roberts, 41, deceased at his residence on the 3800 block of Diabase Drive.

No motive has been established, and the investigation is ongoing.
