Glendale police still seeking suspects in shooting that left 3 dead, 5 hurt

GLENDALE, Ariz. — On May 4, a shooting at a car show and concert celebration claimed three lives and left five others injured. The incident occurred around 7:45 p.m. near Glendale and Grand avenues, possibly during a Cinco de Mayo event.

As of now, no arrests have been made in connection to the shooting. Authorities are reaching out to the community for assistance and have established a portal for witnesses to upload any relevant videos from the night.

On May 7, police released images of “persons of interest” believed to possess crucial information about the case, clarifying that these individuals are not suspects. The department anticipates that community cooperation will aid in their ongoing investigation.

In total, three people died: 17-year-old Damien Anthony Sproule and brothers Christopher Juaquin Sproule and Milo Christopher Suniga, both 21. Friends and family members have paid tribute, recounting the vibrant lives they lived.

“He gained his wings way too early,” reflected Laria Carvajal, a friend of Suniga. “Everything happened so fast. We were just having fun before it all went wrong.”

The five injured victims, aged 16 to 23, are expected to recover fully, though one is still hospitalized after surgery. Glendale police reaffirmed their commitment to bringing those responsible to justice, asserting that the situation could have been markedly worse without swift police response.

Investigators suspect a fight inside the establishment escalated outside, resulting in the gunfire. Witness accounts include a chaotic scene with more than 20 shots fired in rapid succession. One witness assisted a wounded woman until paramedics arrived.

El Camarón Gigante, the venue hosting the event, expressed their heartbreak over the violence, pledging cooperation with law enforcement while offering support to their community. Similarly, the event’s organizers, OASA, emphasized their commitment to love and connection, rejecting violence.

Police indicate this was an isolated incident, stemming from prior disputes among those involved. They urge anyone with information to contact the Glendale Police Department at 623-930-3000 or Silent Witness at 480-948-6377.

As investigations continue, the community remains on alert yet hopeful for resolution in a tragic event that has left its mark.
