PHOENIX — A Weather Impact Alert is in effect today as storms ripple through the valley.

An unseasonably cool low-pressure system is set to linger over the Desert Southwest through Tuesday, bringing below-normal temperatures and significant rain chances.

Scattered showers are forecasted for today and tonight, with the possibility of limited activity mainly affecting Arizona’s higher terrain on Tuesday.

Temperatures in the lower desert are expected to remain in the 70s through Tuesday, before a swift rebound mid-week, potentially reaching the low triple digits by Friday.

Here’s the seven-day forecast:

MONDAY: High of 71°F, low of 61°F with below-normal temperatures and scattered showers.

TUESDAY: High of 74°F, low of 62°F, partly cloudy with a 30% chance of showers.

WEDNESDAY: High of 84°F, low of 67°F, mainly sunny.

THURSDAY: High of 93°F, low of 73°F, sunny and warmer.

FRIDAY: High of 101°F, marking the return of triple digits.

SATURDAY: High of 102°F, above normal.

SUNDAY: High of 103°F, sunny and warm for Mother’s Day.
