Free ‘Nerf & Surf’ Summer Bash for Teens Set to Make Waves on June 4th!

Be Awesome Inc. is set to host its “Nerf & Surf” event, inviting local teens to a night filled with excitement and creativity on Wednesday, June 4.

This free event, tailored for teens aged 12 to 18, will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Copper Sky Recreation Complex. Registration is limited to 50 participants. Activities will feature Nerf battles, color war showdowns, beach-themed crafts, and even a pool party, accompanied by pizza and drinks. Snacks and merchandise will also be available for under $3, with proceeds benefitting future events for Maricopa youth.

The initiative aims to provide a safe, engaging alternative to screen time, addressing the social needs of local teens. Sponsored by Community of Hope Church and Council Member AnnaMarie Knorr, “Nerf & Surf” presents a much-needed opportunity for youth to connect.

Priscilla Behnke, executive director of Be Awesome Inc., emphasizes the importance of connection: “Teens in Maricopa face real challenges, which can be worsened by feelings of isolation and limited recreational opportunities.”

Parents are encouraged to register their teens promptly, as spots are expected to fill quickly.

Community members can sponsor a teen’s participation for $25. Donations are welcomed to support this event and its mission.
