Jenna Ellis, former Trump attorney, cuts deal with prosecutors in Az fake electors criminal case

Conservative media personality and former Donald Trump campaign attorney Jenna Ellis has agreed to cooperate with Arizona prosecutors in their investigation of the state’s GOP fake electors who attempted to keep Trump in office despite his election loss. The deal was confirmed by Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes on Monday morning.

Ellis, previously censured in Colorado for making false statements about the 2020 election and who pleaded guilty in Georgia to a felony charge related to her efforts to overturn the election results, signed the agreement in exchange for a dismissal of charges against her by the prosecution. Charges against her included fraud, forgery, and conspiracy tied to the fake elector scheme in Arizona.

Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes expressed gratitude for Ellis’s cooperation, stating, “This agreement represents a significant step forward in our case. I am grateful to Ms. Ellis for her cooperation with our investigation and prosecution. Her insights are invaluable and will greatly aid the State in proving its case in court. As I stated when the initial charges were announced, I will not allow American democracy to be undermined – it is far too important. Today’s announcement is a win for the rule of law.”

In April, Ellis, along with 17 other defendants, was indicted on nine felony charges related to their involvement in the 2020 fake elector scheme. The indictment accuses the fake electors of attempting to deceive the public with false claims of election fraud to prevent the lawful transfer of the presidency.
