A 62-year-old man from Maricopa was arrested on Thursday for violating sex offender registration laws. Jefferson Douglas McGee, who has a prior conviction for first-degree child sex assault, was charged after police determined he had not properly registered as a sex offender.

McGee, classified as a Level 3 sex offender in Arizona, was last known to reside at 18832 N. Leland Drive in Senita 1. His classification indicates he is deemed to have a high risk of reoffending.

On September 26, at approximately 8 p.m., Maricopa police officers located McGee in a parked Saturn Vue registered in his name. They found that he failed to register the vehicle with the Pinal County Sex Offender Registry within the required 72 hours.

During the interaction, officers discovered an open container of Jack Daniel’s whiskey in the vehicle’s center console. Consequently, McGee received a citation for this additional violation.

As a result of these findings, McGee was booked into the Pinal County jail, facing charges that include failure to register and having an open container while driving.

Physically, McGee is noted for a “Playboy bunny” tattoo on his left arm and praying hands on his right. He stands 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighs 140 pounds.

Given his history of failing to register, McGee’s current felony charge could lead to a sentence of up to five years and nine months. The open container violation is punishable by a four-month sentence and potential fines of $750.
