Flood Fire Engulfs 4,400 Acres in Pinal County

PINAL COUNTY, Ariz. — Residents of the Panther Butte neighborhood are currently under a SET status due to the ongoing Flood Fire, according to the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office. This precaution follows a recent elevation to a GO status on Thursday.
As of October 11, the Flood Fire has expanded to approximately 4,000 acres and is about 30% contained. The blaze continues to spread, driven by dry grass and brush as high winds intensified overnight.
Residents are advised to prepare emergency supplies well ahead of any potential evacuation, particularly as fire activity increases across Arizona. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) emphasizes the importance of having a wildfire Go-Kit ready.
This kit should be easily accessible and contain essentials such as three gallons of water per person and a three-day supply of ready-to-eat food. Additional items include a first-aid kit, prescription medications, and vital family documents, each stored in a waterproof container.
Furthermore, the NFPA recommends the inclusion of a sleeping bag or warm blanket per person, a battery-powered radio, dust masks, waterproof matches, a full change of clothing, and signal flares. Complete guidance on emergency supplies is available from the NFPA’s resources.
