Firefighters extinguish car fire that scorched Glennwilde garage

Maricopa Fire and Medical Department responded swiftly to a car fire in Glennwilde early this morning, which caused damage to the garage of a nearby home.

Firefighters arrived on the 42000 block of West Palmyra Lane just before 4 a.m., according to Phoenix Regional Dispatch.

A silver pickup truck in the driveway showed extensive damage, particularly to its engine compartment. Scorch marks were also evident on the garage door and parts of the front exterior of the house.

Fire crews employed a rescue saw to remove the garage door, enabling them to access and extinguish the fire effectively.

After the blaze was under control, firefighters utilized the newly acquired StormStick—a detergent-based rinse system aimed at removing soot and particulates from their gear, thereby reducing the risk of occupational cancer.

Injuries remain unreported at this time. InMaricopa has reached out to the Maricopa Fire and Medical Department for further details.

This is a developing story, and InMaricopa will provide updates as more information becomes available.
