Fire burning northeast of Fort McDowell in the Tonto National Forest now 30 acres, 75% contained


FORT MCDOWELL, Ariz. — Firefighters are currently battling a wildfire that has erupted northeast of Fort McDowell in the Tonto National Forest.

The Mine Fire has burned between 20 and 30 acres off Forest Road 143, situated east of State Route 87 and west of the Four Peaks Wilderness. Forest Service officials confirmed that the fire’s forward progress has been halted.

To enhance situational awareness, officials plan to conduct mapping on Tuesday, aiming for a more precise acreage assessment.

A crew from the Mesa hotshots, along with three fire engines and support from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, are actively engaged in firefighting efforts.
