Film office celebrates 50, touts achievements

The Phoenix Film Office, established on October 8, 1974, is celebrating its 50th anniversary by highlighting its substantial contributions to the local economy. In a recent report released in mid-August, the office disclosed that for the fiscal year 2023-2024, the film industry in Phoenix generated an impressive economic impact of $21.8 million.

This figure marks the highest financial impact recorded in the past five years, surpassing last year’s total of $19.5 million. The notable growth underscores Phoenix’s appeal as a prime location for film production, with over 1,341 projects completed across 1,068 production days.

Phil Bradstock, the Phoenix Film Commissioner, expressed enthusiasm about the increasing economic benefits. “The upward trend of film productions in the city contributes to job and revenue creation for our community, and it also showcases our beautiful city on a global scale,” he stated.

Beyond financial gains, film productions enrich the local culture and provide exposure for local talent and landscapes. This year, numerous significant projects have been filmed in Phoenix, including the upcoming indie film “Star People” and “The Unstoppable,” produced by Artists Equity.
