Major Power Outage and Traffic Disruptions in Maricopa Following Vehicle Collision
UPDATE JULY 23, 8:51 p.m.: Over 1,000 residents are currently without power following an outage affecting key areas such as Maricopa Professional Village, Bashas’, and the Circle K located at Smith-Enke and John Wayne Parkway. The power outage has been confirmed by Electrical District No. 3 (ED3), which revealed the information on their outage map.
UPDATE JULY 23, 8:30 p.m.: Emergency crews are actively working at the scene of a head-on collision involving two vehicles. Monica Williams, spokesperson for the Maricopa Police Department (MPD), noted that four individuals were involved in the incident, with one person requiring extrication from a vehicle.
“All were transported to a valley hospital for treatment,” Williams stated, providing an update on the situation.
ORIGINAL JULY 23, 8:25 p.m.: According to the Maricopa Police Department, a serious crash on SR 238 has led to lane closures in both directions, specifically between Roosevelt Ave and Costa Brava Ave. A vehicle struck a power box during the crash, resulting in the extensive power outage impacting the nearby community.
ED3 is already on the scene, assessing and working to resolve the power situation. The extent of injuries from the accident remains unknown at this time, adding an element of uncertainty to an already tense situation.
MPD is advising drivers to use alternative routes, specifically suggesting Edison and Loma Road, to navigate around the affected area.
