Chanukah, Hanukkah - Here are some celebrations happening around Tucson

Hanukkah festivities are approaching, and Tucson is gearing up with a variety of celebratory events organized by local congregations, including Chabad Tucson and Congregation Beit Simcha.

The highlight is the Grand Menorah Lighting, set for Wednesday, December 25, from 5 to 6 p.m. at El Presidio Plaza, located at 160 W. Alameda St. This year marks Chabad Tucson’s 41st annual lighting of what is known as “Tucson’s tallest menorah.” Open to all, the event will feature music, crafts, holiday food, and menorahs available for attendees to take home.

On Thursday, December 26, another festive gathering titled Chanukah On Ice will commence at the Ice Rink of the Tucson Convention Center, starting at 5:30 p.m. Following a lighting ceremony, there will be ice skating sessions at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Ticket prices for this event range from $15 to $22.

The Tucson Jewish Community Center is organizing a free family-friendly event called Lights and Latkes Hanukkah on Sunday, December 29, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Located at 3800 E. River Rd, this celebration will include various activities such as charades, dreidel spinning, bingo, and crafts. Attendees can also enjoy music, latkes, and a selection of toppings.
