Father-Daughter Dream Team Launches City’s Premier Mattress Store
Bruce “Curly” Kiraly and his daughter, Cody Kiraly, are gearing up to launch a unique venture in Maricopa — Copa Mattress & Furniture. The father-daughter duo, who have partnered in business for six years, is set to unveil their store in the Fry’s Marketplace shopping center later this month. Spanning approximately 2,300 square feet, the new showroom is being fitted out next to Nekter Juice Bar.
Curly, a seasoned entrepreneur who began selling water beds in the 1980s, previously ran 90 American waterbed stores. Now, Cody aims to take over the family business when her father retires. The Kiralys have also been operating the Magic Mattress store in Tempe since 2010 and acknowledged a growing demand from local customers, with an estimated 10 to 15 percent of their clientele originating from Maricopa.
To support the new venture, the Kiralys are hiring three full-time and two part-time employees. Curly has recruited Larry Davis, a resident of Rancho El Dorado with previous experience managing their Tempe store, to oversee operations at the Maricopa location. Curly expressed a sense of assurance in expanding into Maricopa, citing the booming market as a significant opportunity.
The store will feature a range of cooling mattresses, which Curly notes are increasingly popular during the hot summer months. Customers can expect discount prices on premium brands, including Beautyrest, Serta, and Puffy. Additionally, the store will carry a selection of Ashley name-brand furniture, offering couches and various complementary pieces.
In a bid to compete with larger retailers, Copa Mattress & Furniture plans to launch an online shopping portal. This will enable customers to order mattresses and furniture conveniently while enjoying exclusive discounts of 10 to 15% through an in-store computer terminal. Curly remains optimistic that their competitive pricing and personalized service will attract local shoppers from Maricopa, minimizing the need for them to venture north on State Route 347 for their home furnishing needs.
