Fatal Crash on I-17 in Phoenix Claims Driver’s Life

The crash happened early on Thursday morning near Bethany Home Road.

PHOENIX — A driver has died after a crash on Interstate 17 southbound near Bethany Home Road in Phoenix, Department of Public Safety officials said.

According to early reports, the driver struck the concrete median barrier at high speed early Thursday morning.

The southbound lanes of the highway were closed for a short time after the crash but later reopened.

Authorities have not disclosed the driver’s identity and the cause of the crash is currently unknown.
