'He didn’t let anything hold him back': Family mourns Prescott Valley father who died in I-10 crash

Family members have identified Dustin Cluff as one of the four victims killed in a tragic crash near Tonopah last weekend.

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. — A family in Prescott Valley is grappling with the sudden loss of Dustin Cluff, who perished in a catastrophic crash on Interstate 10.

The accident, involving twelve vehicles, occurred amid a dust storm that severely reduced visibility. Cluff was returning from a trip to California in an RV with his girlfriend, Melinda Kobold.

“It was a mundane drive home from Glamis that took him from us, and it just doesn’t make sense,” said Niki Cluff, Dustin’s ex-wife. “It’s going to be hard without him.”

The RV caught fire during the incident. Remarkably, the only survivor was Cluff’s dog, Nacho, who managed to escape the blaze.

“It’s just bizarre. Like we’re trying to figure out how he managed to get out of the wreckage,” Niki Cluff stated.

Nacho was later found near the freeway and reunited with Cluff’s son, Jakson. “It’s nice for Jakson to have him because it’s a piece of his dad,” said Niki.

Niki and Dustin Cluff shared three children: a son and two daughters. Adjusting to life without their father presents a daunting challenge. “What do we do without him? The girls have graduations coming up. Addy is still working to get her driver’s license; she hasn’t had her first date yet,” Niki expressed.

They are now left with memories of a man Niki described as kind, loving, and adventurous. “Dustin was super adventurous. He didn’t let anything hold him back,” she said. “If you told him he couldn’t do something, he would do it, and he would do it better than you expected.”

In light of their loss, a GoFundMe page has been established to provide financial support for Dustin Cluff’s children during this difficult period.
