Family Demands Justice After Tragic Death of Worker at APS Power Plant

ARLINGTON, Arizona — A tragic accident at the APS Redhawk Power Plant has claimed the life of 50-year-old Mike Olver, a valve mechanic from California. Olver was working under contract for a 10-day project when the incident occurred.
His family remembered him as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, with his daughter, Falon Olver, describing him as “always the life of the party.” The family is grappling with profound grief amid unanswered questions surrounding his death.
According to his wife, Jennifer Olver, the family has received little information regarding the circumstances of the accident. Reports indicate that he was operating a crane when he fell. Authorities have determined that he died from blunt force trauma, as confirmed by the Maricopa County Medical Examiner.
Jennifer Olver expressed her anguish, stating, “What exactly happened? Why did he fall? How did he fall? What could have been done to prevent that from happening?” These questions echo the family’s desire for clarity and justice.
In response to the incident, APS released a statement conveying their sorrow over Olver’s tragic death. They assured the public that there were no impacts to other individuals at the facility or to plant operations. APS has initiated an investigation, emphasizing that the safety of their crews and customers remains a top priority.
