Fallen Officer Zane Coolidge Honored at Phoenix Police Memorial

Officer Zane Coolidge was tragically shot and killed while responding to a car break-in last September. In a solemn ceremony, the Phoenix Police Department honored his sacrifice by adding his name as the 46th inscription on the memorial for fallen officers located outside City Hall.
During the event, Acting Phoenix Police Chief Dennis Orender praised Coolidge, stating, “He was the kind of officer you wanted by your side. Steadfast, courageous, and deeply committed to the community that he served.” Coolidge’s family was also present, with his wife Kristin proudly stating his full name during the ceremonial roll call.
“Officer Zane Tristan Coolidge. Serial Number 10914. End of Watch September 6, 2024,” she said, reflecting the emotional weight of the moment.
The ceremony also recognized other officers who made the ultimate sacrifice. Reserve Commander Charmane Osborn shared her father’s legacy, a motor officer who died tragically due to a drunken driver. “He loved his job and he loved serving this city,” Osborn recalled, emphasizing the honor that comes with such service.
Chief Orender reiterated the significance of the event, stating that it serves to support the families of fallen officers. “To the officers that we’ve lost, including Officer Zane Coolidge, you are missed, you are loved, and you will never be forgotten,” he said. The department is committed to remembering all 46 fallen officers, ensuring their sacrifices are honored.
As part of the ongoing tribute, family and colleagues will travel to Washington, D.C., in May to represent Coolidge during National Police Week.
