Fall Inferno Engulfs 617 Acres on Gila River Indian Community, Still 0% Contained
PHOENIX — The Fall Fire has rapidly spread across over 600 acres in District 6 of the Gila River Indian Community, prompting active evacuation orders as of Saturday. The fire ignited in the vicinity of Santa Cruz and Cemetery Roads, creating a significant smoke plume visible throughout the Valley.
As of now, the fire is reported to be zero percent contained, with fire officials monitoring conditions closely. Winds have heightened fire activity, complicating containment efforts. Ground crews are battling the blaze while air tankers have resumed dropping fire retardant in affected areas.
No structures have been reported damaged, though several power lines have been compromised. Arizona Public Service (APS) crews are actively working to repair damaged power poles on Santa Cruz and Old Well Roads.
Residents along Kwi Street and Old Well Road have been evacuated, and the Gila River Police Department has enforced a no-return policy until conditions allow safe reentry. Evacuees are directed to seek shelter at the District 7 Multipurpose Building located at 8035 S 83rd Avenue in Laveen.
Fortunately, no injuries have been reported related to the Fall Fire, which remains under investigation. A detailed update from the Gila River Indian Community noted the fire has consumed 671 acres by Saturday night.
Residents are encouraged to stay clear of the area as firefighting efforts continue, allowing emergency responders full access to the location. For those affected by evacuation orders, warnings remain in place to ensure public safety.
