Highs are projected to surpass normal levels, reaching up to 114 degrees by Sunday.

PHOENIX — The desert southwest is facing a heatwave, with dangerously high temperatures expected from Saturday through Monday.

High pressure in the area is responsible for this extreme heat. Generally, temperatures hover around 104 degrees this time of year. However, the upcoming weekend could challenge existing records, with predicted highs of 114 degrees on Sunday, close to the record of 115 degrees. An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect across the lower deserts for Saturday, Sunday, and Monday due to these hazardous conditions.

Residents are advised to limit outdoor activities between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. and stay adequately hydrated to prevent heat-related illnesses.

No precipitation is forecasted for the next seven days in the lower desert regions.

Seven-Day Forecast:

SATURDAY: 110/83 Sunny & very hot. Record: 115

SUNDAY: 114/84 Sunny & very hot. Record: 115

MONDAY: 112/83 Sunny & hot. Record: 115
