Weather Impact Alert for extreme heat has been extended for the entire workweek


PHOENIX — An extreme heat warning remains in effect for the Valley, continuing through Friday. High temperatures are anticipated to soar between 110 and 115 degrees, with the peak occurring on Thursday, when Phoenix could reach its first 115-degree day of the season.

In addition, a red flag warning is active in northeastern Arizona due to extremely dry conditions and gusty southwest winds. These winds could reach up to 40 mph, increasing fire risk across the region.

Across the state, temperatures are surpassing seasonal averages. Notably, Flagstaff may experience its first 90-degree day midweek, marking a significant shift for the area.

Despite the official start of the monsoon season, there are currently no indications of storm activity imminent in the near future.

The seven-day forecast highlights the intensity of the current heat wave:

  • THURSDAY: 116/85 Sunny & hot
  • SUNDAY: 103/80 Closer to normal
