Behind the scenes: Arizona Diamondbacks preview Chase Field upgrades, new food items for 2025 season

As Major League Baseball’s Opening Day approaches, the Arizona Diamondbacks recently hosted their annual event, “What’s New at Chase.” Attendees enjoyed previews of the upcoming promotional giveaways and a redesigned menu for the 2025 season.

Critical renovations at Chase Field also took center stage. Diamondbacks President and CEO Derrick Hall announced significant repairs to the stadium’s roof, ensuring it is ready for the season starting March 27, when Arizona faces the Chicago Cubs in a four-game series. While the air conditioning system remains under development, Hall emphasized the need to provide fans with a comfortable environment during the sweltering summer months.

Looking ahead, Hall expressed optimism regarding legislative changes—specifically House Bill 2704, which aims to enhance funding for stadium improvements. This bill would redirect Chase Field’s employee income and state taxes towards the stadium’s development. After being accepted by the House of Representatives, it now awaits approval from the Senate committee.

“This is now five or six years that we’ve done this and look at how it’s grown,” said Hall. He highlighted the potential for greater changes once HB 2704 is enacted, allowing the team to improve stadium features and showcase new elements at future events.

A new culinary lineup is set for the 2025 season. Fans can anticipate dishes like Sweet and Spicy Korean Wings, featuring a Gochujang glaze, and the hearty Giant Loaded BBQ Chicken Potato. Those craving nachos will enjoy the Carne Asada Nacho Helmet, while Filthy Mac Fries provide a premium experience with Cajun-spiced fries topped with creamy mac and cheese and pork belly.

Other highlights include the Grand Slamwhich, a mammoth 18-inch hero sandwich filled with chicken parmesan and meatballs, and Hot Honey Chicken Fries—crispy tenders served with spicy honey. For a treat, guests can indulge in Dole Whip, a refreshing mix of pineapple and vanilla soft serve, or S’mores Nachos with cinnamon-sugar tortilla chips.

The Diamondbacks aim to rebound from last season’s 89-73 record, which fell short of postseason aspirations. Former player Luis Gonzalez, now a senior advisor to the president, remains hopeful about the new roster changes, emphasizing the importance of consistent evolution in aligning with fans’ interests.

“For us, it’s all about change all the time,” Gonzalez stated. He noted how events showcasing new promotions and culinary offerings amplify fan engagement. The “What’s New at Chase” event reinforced the Diamondbacks’ commitment to enhancing the fan experience alongside ongoing stadium improvements.

“We brought in some good guys via trade and free agency, creating a winning atmosphere for the fans,” Gonzalez added. “Events like this are crucial in garnering community support for our team.”
