Exciting New Eco-Friendly Choices Now Available for Residents

A new eco-station at Encanto Park will serve North Central residents who need to dispose of recyclable materials (photo courtesy of Phoenix Public Works Department).
Phoenix has expanded its recycling efforts with the addition of eco-stations across the city. These stations complement the existing transfer stations located at 27th Avenue and North Gateway. Eco-stations are large roll-off bins located in city parks and near multi-family housing areas, providing residents and businesses with convenient access for recycling.
The latest eco-station opened at Encanto Park, replacing the facility previously located at Steele Indian School Park. That station was removed permanently in February 2024 due to frequent arson incidents. A Public Works Department representative noted, “The public safety risk and damage to property became so great that we could not continue to replace the eco-station at that site.”
You can find the new eco-station on the east side of the parking lot off West Encanto Boulevard. Residents looking for more specific locations within the city can access a detailed map at www.phoenix.gov/publicworks/ecostations.
For those who need to recycle plastic bags, films, and other soft plastics—materials not accepted in curbside bins—Recyclops offers a solution. This subscription-based service, available in 30 states since its founding in 2014, provides doorstep pickup. Phoenix residents can sign up for three months of free service at www.recyclops.com/phoenix.
