Exciting New Dining Destinations Unveiled in North Central

Recent developments in the North Central area highlight an exciting culinary expansion. A new Mexican fast-food restaurant and two bar-centric venues are in the pipeline. Señor Taco Express opened its doors in June at 3215 N. Central Ave., succeeding a longtime Jack in the Box location.
The story begins in Cotija, Mexico, over 60 years ago when Reynaldo Ruiz’s father, David, delivered freshly baked bread. This connection to local cuisine inspired David to eventually open Cotija’s Mexican Food in San Diego after moving to the U.S. His son, Reynaldo, followed suit, launching Señor Taco in Arizona in 2000. This new location, Señor Taco Express, aims to continue the tradition, offering authentic Mexican fare with a lively twist. The restaurant’s motto promises a quicker experience without sacrificing authenticity.
Next, Dirtbag’s Phoenix is slated to open this month at 4801 E. Indian School Road. This beloved eatery first opened in Tucson over three decades ago. Although the Phoenix branch will operate under new ownership, it will retain the original menu. Diners can expect substantial sandwiches, burgers, and healthier choices. The restaurant will replace The Spot at Arcadia, which closed earlier this summer.
Concerns about parking have arisen due to limited space shared with other nearby businesses. In response, Dirtbag’s ownership has announced free valet service after 6 p.m. to accommodate patrons, and they’ve encouraged carpooling or ridesharing.
Moving on to another newsworthy opening, The Bar is readying its second Phoenix location at 5508 N. 7th Ave. The original venue, located on 3174 E. Indian School Road, garnered a loyal following and attempted a short-lived spinoff in Gilbert, which closed earlier this year.
This new establishment embraces a light-hearted homage to “The Big Lebowski.” The Bar’s concept revolves around creating a welcoming, non-corporate atmosphere reminiscent of the Midwest. The menu offers an array of wings, appetizers like Wisconsin Cheese Curds, burgers, and salads, alongside a selection of signature cocktails and daily specials.
As these new locations prepare to welcome patrons, they promise to add diverse dining options to the burgeoning North Central food scene.
