Exciting Highlights from Week 7 of Friday Night Fever

PHOENIX — The excitement of Week 7 of the 35th season of Friday Night Fever, Arizona’s premier high school football showcase, gripped the state last Thursday and Friday. A spotlight shone brightly on a top 2A clash, among other thrilling matchups that took place across the gridirons.

In our featured Game of the Week, Santa Cruz Valley faced off against San Tan Charter in a high-stakes showdown. Both teams entered the contest with impressive records — Santa Cruz Valley at 7-1 and San Tan Charter at 7-0. The Roadrunners established an early lead, going into halftime up 14-0. However, the Dust Devils mounted a comeback, narrowing the score to a single possession. Ultimately, San Tan Charter secured a 24-15 victory.

Meanwhile, Cactus Shadows (#12) and Desert Mountain (#2) delivered an electrifying double-overtime thriller. Facing a 14-point deficit, the Falcons fought back to tie the game at 21-21, eventually leading to overtime. After a nail-biting exchange of touchdowns, Desert Mountain triumphed with a final score of 35-28.

In other notable games, ALA Gilbert North edged out Higley with a narrow 16-14 victory. Basha topped Hamilton 35-20, while Casteel triumphed over Perry in a wild quadruple overtime match, finishing 40-37. Horizon secured a 20-7 win against Notre Dame Prep, and Liberty narrowly defeated Pinnacle 32-29.

In the Fever Flyover segment, Deer Valley impressively maintained their undefeated status with a decisive 42-3 victory over Washington. Greenway proved strong with a 28-7 win against Glendale, and Snowflake successfully defeated Poston Butte 31-20, with a prolific offensive display in the second half. Yuma Catholic showcased their prowess against Thunderbird, winning 45-14 in a top-five matchup.

Shifting focus to the road, Vista Grande delivered a stellar performance against the Rincon/University Rangers, winning 49-0 during a homecoming celebration. The Spartans showcased their skills and teamwork during the intense competition.

As the week wrapped up, excitement mounted around the Sweet Plays of the Week. Three standout plays will be nominated for fan voting, with each week’s winner competing for the ultimate Sweet Play of the Year title.
