Except for Wilson, Incumbents Hold Strong in Pima County Constable and JP Elections

Most incumbents in the Pima County justice of the peace and constable races were faring well as the first returns came in on Tuesday night.
Pima County Justice of the Peace Precinct 4
Incumbent Justice of the Peace Charlene Pesquiera led decisively in the Democratic primary with 83 percent of the vote, leaving challenger Michael Buglewicz trailing at 17 percent. With no other candidates in the November general election, this race is effectively decided.
Pima County Justice of the Peace Precinct 9
In Precinct 9, incumbent JP Kendrick A. Wilson faced a tough challenge from Renee Ann Garza, who garnered 67 percent of the vote compared to Wilson’s 36 percent. Similar to Precinct 4, no other candidates have registered for the November election, making this primary crucial.
Pima County Constable Precinct 6
Democratic incumbent Bennett Bernal held a substantial lead in the race for constable of Precinct 6 with 78 percent of the vote, surpassing challenger Ivan Ricardo Tolano.
Pima County Constable Precinct 9
In Precinct 9, incumbent Constable George Camacho was disqualified due to insufficient valid signatures on his nominating petition. As a result, two write-in candidates, Gerard Acuña and John Escobedo, vied for the position. To secure a spot on the November ballot, each needed to receive at least 492 votes. Write-in ballots will be counted post-Election Day.
Other justice of the peace and constable races in Pima County were uncontested.
The Tuesday night vote count included early ballots submitted earlier in the month. Election Day ballots were still being tallied Tuesday evening, with additional vote-by-mail ballots awaiting signature verification before being counted.
