Former Sun Devil Cam Skattebo signs rookie deal with New York Giants

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Former Arizona State running back Cam Skattebo has officially joined the New York Giants, signing his rookie contract nearly two months after being drafted. The contract was finalized on the last day of the Giants’ mandatory minicamp.

While the team did not disclose specific details, reports indicate the four-year deal is valued at $5,273,040 and includes a signing bonus of just under $1.1 million. Skattebo was selected in the fourth round as the 105th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Before his NFL journey, Skattebo made a significant impact at ASU, where he rushed for 1,711 yards and 21 touchdowns in his breakout season of 2024. His dual-threat ability also saw him catch 45 passes for 605 yards, playing a key role in ASU’s unexpected success that year.

In 2024, he notched single-season records at ASU for rushing yards, rushing touchdowns, and all-purpose yards, accumulating 2,316 in total. His accolades included being named a first-team All-American and finishing fifth in Heisman voting.

Despite these achievements, Skattebo was not awarded either the Conference’s Offensive Player of the Year title or the Doak Walker Award for top running back, causing some controversy within college football circles. However, he did earn recognition as the Offensive MVP of the Peach Bowl, where he accumulated 284 total yards, marking a historic moment as the first recipient of the award from a losing team in 26 years.

The Giants will kick off their 2025 season on September 7 against the Washington Commanders, a game that will highlight the debut of former ASU quarterback Jayden Daniels. Meanwhile, ASU opens its season at home against Northern Arizona on August 30 at Mountain America Stadium.
