Evacuation ordered for Canyon Lake area due to Siphon Fire

PHOENIX — The Siphon Fire is prompting evacuations in the Canyon Lake and Tortilla Flat areas due to its spread across remote terrain northeast of Apache Junction. Pinal County has issued a “SET” status for residents east of Mountain View Road and west of the Tonto National Forest, spanning from Broadway Road to Lost Dutchman State Park.

Fire management efforts are currently hampered by rugged terrain, making it unsafe for ground crews to access certain areas. According to Tonto National Forest officials, two fire engines and a Type 1 helicopter are actively assigned to combat the blaze.

As of this morning, the fire has burned approximately 2,350 acres and remains 0% contained. The investigation into the fire’s origins is ongoing.

Due to safety concerns, the Lost Dutchman State Park has been closed, and authorities urge residents and the public to steer clear of the First Water, Boulder, and Siphon Trails while firefighting efforts are underway.

Updates on the situation will be provided as more information becomes available. Stay safe and vigilant as emergency services respond to this developing situation.
