Women With Willpower continues serving Havasu women in need

A Havasu charitable organization has remained dedicated to assisting local women.

Women With Willpower is known for lending aid to women seeking local resources. President Sherri Ashford described the nonprofit as a “last resort” after women exhaust all other options.

The organization regularly provides financial and other assistance to eligible women. She added that recipients must have lived in Havasu for at least three months.

“We are giving a hand-up, not a handout,” Ashford continued. “We want to see getting these women back to work.”

A Women and Wine event scheduled for Wednesday will invite community members to the Island. Hosted at Shugrue’s Bridgeview Room, attendees can enter basket raffles from Havasu retailers, Ashford said.

Attendees can purchase charcuterie boxes for $15 or enjoy an evening meal and wine.

“We will hear from one of our recipients, and how that donation helped her,” she added.

Ashford estimated summer events to welcome 60 to 80 attendees, increasing during spring months.

She stated that events are funded through the nonprofit’s partners and sponsors. Ashford explained that money donated to the group assists local women. She added that becoming a partner or sponsor starts at $300 rising to $2,500.

Women With Willpower’s Women and Wine event occurs Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. The event takes place at Shugrue’s Bridgeview Room, 1425 McCulloch Blvd. N.
