Elevate Your Weekend: 2 Must-See Art Events This November

The Maricopa Arts Council is gearing up for its Fall 2024 MAC at MAC Gallery, set to take place on November 15 from 6 to 9 p.m. at 37860 West Smith-Enke Road. This event marks the second installment of the gallery’s series, following a successful launch in May that showcased paintings and statuettes.
The upcoming gallery will spotlight photography and sculptures, alongside works from two selected painters, including Rosa Stoll. Stoll’s art draws inspiration from stained glass, featuring intricate black line designs that underscore vibrant colors. “Her work embodies a captivating blend of structure and creativity,” said Judith Zaimont, co-director of the Maricopa Arts Council.
In preparation for the grand opening, submissions from local artists aged high school and up are accepted until November 5. This provides a unique opportunity for the community to contribute to the arts scene.
Following the gallery opening, residents can participate in the MAC Studio Crawl on November 16 and 17, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. This citywide event opens the doors to the creative spaces of both established artists and emerging talents. The crawl offers a rare chance for attendees to observe artists like ceramicist and pastel expert Russell Frank and Navajo weaver Tiffany Yazzie at work, fostering a connection between creators and the community.
“It’s an adventure,” Zaimont remarked. “Visitors will discover unexpected artistry and engage with the makers of these remarkable creations.” The event is designed not just for viewing but also encourages dialogue about artistic processes and the opportunity to purchase unique art pieces.
The timing of the studio crawl aligns with the approach of the holiday season, making it an ideal occasion for gift shopping. Maps for the crawl will be available at Maricopa Library, City Hall, and online via the Maricopa Arts Council and Maricopa Friends of the Arts Facebook pages, starting November 9.
Artists interested in showcasing their work for either the gallery or the studio crawl can obtain submission guidelines by emailing MACMaricopa@gmail.com.
