Electric bike rider injured, cited in Mustang crash

Maricopa, AZ – Emergency responders were on the scene following a car versus bicycle crash at West Edison Road near Edison Pointe on August 4, 2024. The incident involved a woman riding an electric bicycle and a Ford Mustang, resulting in the woman receiving a citation.

Maricopa police and fire crews arrived at the crash site near Brakes Plus around 2:30 p.m. According to MPD Capt. Stephen Judd, the 33-year-old woman was riding the electric bike on the sidewalk and collided with the Ford Mustang, which was stopped at a stop sign.

The woman sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital by a family member. Neither the bicyclist nor the Mustang driver displayed any signs of impairment. The bike rider was cited for violating a traffic law.

While first responders cleared the scene, westbound traffic on Edison Road was temporarily blocked but resumed shortly thereafter.
