Early Voting Surge: Mohave County Sees 81% Participation Rate, Elections Office Reports
Election Day has arrived in Mohave County, with Elections Director Allen Tempert reporting that approximately 81% of voters have already cast their ballots. This figure indicates a slight uptick in early voting compared to previous years, notably surpassing the 78% recorded in 2020.
Notably, Mohave County has achieved one of the highest early voting turnout rates in the state. Tempert noted that it ranks second in early voting turnout among counties, right behind Maricopa County. This year’s higher engagement reflects a continued trend of increasing early voter participation.
The county monitored wait times at various polling locations, including Bullhead City, Kingman, and Lake Havasu City. Reports indicated that some voters faced waits of over an hour, attributed to a more extensive ballot including 13 propositions. “Really, what I would say to anybody is prepare for them,” Tempert advised. He emphasized the importance of being informed ahead of time, a sentiment he personally followed by reviewing the propositions.
For those voting today, polling location information is available on the county’s official website. While Tempert cautioned that slight waits could be expected, he assured voters that they would not be excessively long.
Results will begin to be released on election night, with daily updates following. Despite the potential for delays in the final canvass, which could take until November 16, Tempert anticipates that a significant portion of results will be available much sooner. The official canvass is scheduled for November 18 during the Board of Supervisors meeting.
Tempert is optimistic about the election process, noting that while no election is without minor issues, he expects a smooth operation. Polls close at 7 p.m., with initial results expected shortly thereafter, reflecting early ballots counted up to that time. Additional updates will continue throughout the night as further ballots are transported from polling locations by sheriff deputies and county staff.
