Man killed in early morning shooting in the East Valley


MESA, Ariz. — An early morning shooting near downtown Mesa has resulted in a man’s death, as confirmed by the Mesa Police Department.

At around 4:45 a.m. on Saturday, a 911 call reported a man experiencing a seizure at a residence on the 100 block of N Lesueur. Upon arrival, officers discovered that the man had sustained a gunshot wound.

Efforts to save his life were initiated immediately, but he lost consciousness and subsequently died at the scene. The identity of the victim is currently withheld as police work to inform his family.

Investigators have since begun searching for the shooter. Eyewitness accounts revealed that the victim had argued with another man shortly before the shots were fired.

Officers received a detailed suspect description from witnesses and apprehended a man near the shooting site. His identity has not been released, and he is now in custody.
