Dust Storm Threat Wednesday, Scorching Heatwave Looms for Weekend
PHOENIX — A Weather Impact Alert has been issued for today by 12News, with a dust storm advisory beginning at 3 p.m.
Strong to locally severe thunderstorm-generated winds are anticipated in south-central and southwest Arizona this afternoon and evening. These conditions have the potential to cause widespread dust.
Chance for showers and storms will persist this afternoon and evening, extending through Thursday morning.
Expect daily afternoon storms over higher terrain through the weekend. Temperatures will largely remain above normal, with a warming trend entering the weekend.
The National Weather Service in Phoenix has issued an Excessive Heat Watch for Saturday and Sunday.
