Duke’s Roadhouse Construction Blaze Steals the Spotlight

Late on March 8, 2025, Duke’s Roadhouse, a partially constructed venue in Maricopa, caught fire. Firefighters swiftly engaged the blaze, directing their efforts at a wooden awning attached to the building.
A spokesman for the City of Maricopa reported, “Our crews arrived on scene and observed a pile of debris near the building on fire. It was quickly put out. The crew is completing a thorough check of the building to ensure the flames did not extend into the structure. What initiated the fire is unknown at this time.”
Emergency responders were alerted to the fire at 10:07 p.m., according to Phoenix regional dispatch records. The firefighters concentrated on the north side of the building, which faces the railroad tracks, venturing indoors and ascending to the second story. By 10:35 p.m., officials confirmed that the fire had been extinguished.
InMaricopa’s Brian Petersheim Jr. noted no visible flames, although heavy smoke persisted in the area. Fire crews were actively dousing the smoldering awning with water sourced from nearby hydrants.
Duke’s Roadhouse has been under construction for over a year, with ambitious plans to enhance North Maricopa Road and install vibrant neon signage. An official opening date remains unspecified.
As a highly anticipated establishment in Maricopa, Duke’s Roadhouse has garnered attention, especially with owner Steve Kovach’s active support for community events, including Maricopa’s fall concert series. InMaricopa is currently awaiting a response from Kovach regarding the fire incident.
