Duke Unveils Bold New Vision for Maricopa Roadhouse
Construction is actively progressing at Duke’s Roadhouse, located at the intersection of Maricopa and Edwards Roads, as recent submissions to the city planning department reveal updated building and signage plans. Last week, the establishment provided detailed documents showcasing new design features for their upcoming restaurant.
The revised elevation plan includes a striking vintage neon road sign, featuring an arrow and an elegant script font. This 8-by-7-foot neon display will be affixed to the building’s façade rather than sitting atop the roof as initially intended.
Plans also illustrate an extension of Edwards Road, which will run just south of Duke’s and incorporate new crosswalks and lane dividers. This extension will facilitate access under the John Wayne Parkway overpass, leading to the Southbridge Marketplace currently under construction.
During a recent Planning and Zoning Commission meeting, City Planner Derek Scheerer emphasized that developers aim to collaborate with the city to ensure proper construction of the new roadway. However, specifics about the coordination efforts remain unclear.
Despite some delays in construction, with demolition wrapping up earlier this year and ongoing work on both the interior and exterior, Duke’s Roadhouse is making strides to engage the community. City officials announced that Duke’s will serve as the primary sponsor for Maricopa’s upcoming fall concert series, highlighting a dynamic lineup of Arizona-based country bands.
The overall timeline for project completion has yet to be disclosed, but the efforts towards creating a vibrant nightlife destination in the city continue to take shape.
