1 person arrested for DUI after UFC fighter Henry Cejudo helps catch people who crashed into Phoenix home

PHOENIX — A serious incident unfolded in Phoenix when a driver crashed into a house, leading to an assault on the homeowner. Police reported that the event took place near State Route 51 and Bethany Home Road on Friday night.

Following the crash, the occupant of the house attempted to flee the scene but was confronted by the individuals in the car. Eyewitness accounts indicate that an assault occurred as the homeowner tried to stop the fleeing suspects.

Remarkably, UFC fighter Henry Cejudo, a neighbor, intervened. Cejudo recounted witnessing a car speeding at 80-100 mph before it collided with the house. “I knew he hit something. The kids are lucky to be alive,” he remarked after noticing the chaos unfold.

As the occupants of the vehicle tried to escape, Cejudo put his mixed martial arts skills to the test, detaining one of the assailants. “I controlled him with one arm,” he stated, downplaying the threat posed by the aggressor.

Authorities identified Angel Cota, 22, as the driver of the car. He now faces multiple charges, including DUI and assault. Cejudo expressed relief that no serious injuries occurred, highlighting the fortunate outcome amidst the chaos.

“I need a cape every once in a while,” Cejudo joked, reflecting on the stark reality of the situation. “To see something like this, it’s just devastating.” As investigations continue, updates will be provided as they become available.
