Drunken Parent Nabbed in School Parking Lot as Students Spill Out

A drunken driver entered the Leading Edge Academy parking lot shortly before the school day ended today. The incident unfolded around 2 p.m. when Maricopa police conducted a traffic stop as part of an ongoing DUI investigation.

According to police spokesperson Monica Williams, the situation was still developing at the time of this report. Fortunately, neither school employees nor students were involved in the arrest, as confirmed by Leading Edge Academy Director Lori Anderson.

In an email sent to parents and shared with InMaricopa, school officials noted that a “parent disturbance” had occurred, but stressed there was no credible threat to the school community. Consequently, school activities continued as scheduled without disruption.
