Drunk woman tries to run dad over at Christmas, gets 11 charges: cops

A holiday gathering in Rancho Mirage turned chaotic on Christmas Eve, leading to a series of alarming events for a local family. The incident involved 29-year-old Jasmin R. Jackson, who confronted her estranged father during a family reunion at her grandmother’s home on Merced Street.

According to a report from the Maricopa Police Department, tensions escalated between Jackson and her father, stemming from her feelings about his absence in her childhood. A physical altercation ensued, resulting in overturned furniture and damage to household items.

Witnesses described a particularly violent moment when Jackson allegedly threw a brick at the family’s front door, evidence of which was noted by responding officers. In a shocking escalation, she reportedly attempted to run over her father with her car as he assessed the situation outside.

With the situation spiraling out of control, her grandmother placed a call to the authorities. When officers arrived, they found Jackson being restrained in the street by her father and quickly took her into custody.

Jackson faces a total of 11 charges, including aggravated assault and criminal damage. The charges were confirmed in a probable cause statement released by police after several residents inquired about the heavy police presence during their Christmas dinner.

Upon being detained, Jackson acknowledged the fight with her family but denied any intent to harm her father. Officers noted that she appeared “highly intoxicated” during the altercation.

Given the presence of many family members, including four children, police booked Jackson into Pinal County Jail on multiple charges, including eight for disorderly conduct. If convicted on all counts, she could face up to 9½ years in prison.
