Drunk Cop-Watcher’s Brief Taste of Freedom Ends in Epic Fail

A man was arrested in Maricopa Meadows on Wednesday after allegedly interfering with a police investigation while intoxicated, according to a report from the Maricopa Police Department.
Residents in the area alerted authorities, with Gary Birrenkott reporting loud music and yelling preceding the arrival of police at around 7 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance on Barbara Lane and discovered significant chaos at the scene.
During their investigation, a 29-year-old man named Omar M. Garcia, who was not involved in the initial disturbance, confronted the officers. Despite repeated requests to de-escalate the situation, Garcia refused to comply with police orders.
Police reports indicate that Garcia was highly intoxicated, exhibiting belligerent behavior. Witnesses observed him aggressively approach the officers, prompting them to physically restrain him in the interest of safety and maintaining order.
As the investigation continued, multiple neighbors emerged from their homes, drawn by the commotion. After being detained for a time, Garcia was released into the care of family members; however, he soon obstructed and prevented police cars from departing the scene.
While recording the officers on his phone, Garcia laid his body across the hood of a police vehicle. This act led to his immediate arrest.
Garcia was booked into the Pinal County jail on charges of obstructing governmental operations and obstructing a thoroughfare. If convicted, he could face up to 10 months in jail.
