Drones Come to the Rescue: Missing Woman Found Near Lake Pleasant

PEORIA, Ariz. — A woman was successfully rescued after becoming lost while hiking near Lake Pleasant. Fire officials reported that she fell down a steep incline and became trapped under a large Palo Verde branch.

She called 911, explaining that she was disoriented and exhausted from the heat. Utilizing GPS coordinates from her call, the Peoria Fire Department deployed a drone, locating her within 15 minutes.

The woman was subsequently transported to a nearby emergency room for treatment of heat exhaustion. Officials emphasize the importance of preparation for outdoor activities in the desert.

The Peoria Fire Medical Department urged hikers to stay hydrated, inform others of their plans, and carry charged cell phones with location services enabled.
