Driver’s Wild Ride in Mesa: Bicyclist, Light Pole, Bus Stop, and Wall All on the Route

MESA, Ariz. — A serious incident occurred in Mesa early Saturday when a bicyclist was struck by a vehicle, leaving them with significant injuries, according to the Mesa Police Department.
The crash took place just after midnight near the intersection of Southern Avenue and Gilbert Road. Preliminary investigations reveal that the vehicle was traveling eastbound when it veered off the road, onto the sidewalk, and collided with the cyclist. The vehicle did not stop after the impact.
Following the collision, the vehicle continued moving and subsequently hit a light pole, a bus stop, and a wall before coming to a stop. Authorities are looking into the driver’s potential impairment, with charges pending the outcome of testing.
