Drive-By Shooting Suspect Set for Court Showdown on Monday
Mohave County prosecutors are set to initiate felony proceedings this week against Seth M. Duda, a 21-year-old Lake Havasu City man accused of a drive-by shooting.
Duda faces multiple felony charges, including discharging a firearm at a residence, drive-by shooting, and unlawful discharge of a firearm. His arraignment in Mohave Superior Court is scheduled for Monday.
Currently, Duda remains in custody at Mohave County Jail with a bond set at $50,000. Defense attorney Kevin Crowley has filed a motion for Duda’s release on his own recognizance, claiming the bond is “unnecessary and overly restrictive.” Crowley assures the court that Duda will attend all future hearings, emphasizing that he poses no danger to the community.
State judicial records indicate that Duda has no prior arrests in Arizona as of this week. Crowley has requested that Duda be allowed to live with his parents in Palm Springs or his aunt in Yuma while awaiting trial. A hearing on this motion is slated for August 30.
The incident that led to the charges occurred on August 10, around 1:50 a.m. Officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 1900 block of Spirit Lane. Witnesses stated that Duda was asked to leave a house party but returned later with a gun, firing several rounds at the residence before fleeing.
Duda was apprehended approximately four hours later near the scene. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported as a result of the incident. As of Friday, the Lake Havasu City Police Department has yet to release an official incident report regarding the matter.
