Drive-By Shooting in Alterra: Male Suspect Caught After 9 Shots Fired, Witnesses Reveal

Arizona State Troopers are investigating a disturbing incident involving a vehicle riddled with bullet holes on Bowlin Road in Alterra. The event occurred on April 8, 2025, where officers discovered a black Lexus ES with at least nine bullet holes in the driver’s side windshield.
The vehicle was located on westbound Bowlin Road, positioned between Alterra Parkway and John Wayne Parkway. This crime scene is situated approximately 150 yards from Maricopa Elementary School and a similar distance west of the Bungalows on Bowlin. Police presence in the area intensified around 12:45 p.m. as the situation unfolded.
Troopers confirmed that no individuals were injured by the gunfire, although they withheld additional details from reporters at the scene. Officers requested that the media refrain from photographing the interior of the vehicle.
By 2 p.m., a significant number of emergency vehicles were present, including two Maricopa police units and three Department of Public Safety units, alongside Maricopa Fire Ladder Tender 571 and an ambulance, which brought a gurney to the scene.
A witness reported seeing a man in a black shirt being taken into custody around 2:30 p.m. InMaricopa has reached out to both the Department of Public Safety and the Maricopa Police Department for further information. Updates will follow as more details emerge regarding this ongoing investigation.
