PHOENIX — The intense heat that gripped Phoenix this summer seems to have dissipated, marking an end to triple-digit temperatures for the year. Saturday’s high of 100 degrees set a record, reflecting a remarkable 143 days of at least 100-degree highs in 2023. However, temperatures are expected to remain above normal through Monday, with a forecasted high of 97 degrees for the Valley.

The High Country will experience milder conditions, with Flagstaff anticipated to reach 74 degrees, accompanied by mostly cloudy skies. As clouds begin to gather across the state from west to east, winds will intensify on Monday, with gusts reaching 25 mph in the Valley and as high as 45 mph in the elevated areas.

Rain is forecasted to arrive Monday night and continue into Tuesday morning, potentially affecting parts of the Valley early Tuesday. Areas above 7,000 feet may see light snowfall accumulation. Following this front, temperatures will drop significantly, with Valley highs expected to be in the 70s on Tuesday and Wednesday, while Flagstaff struggles to surpass 50 degrees amidst scattered showers.
